TRI-CITY AREA — The Almont and Imlay City Area Chambers of Commerce will team up Thursday, Jan. 10 to host an informational program dedicated to the impact of cyber intrusion on the business community.

Entitled 'Cyber Intrusion and Risk Realities,' the collaborative Networking Luncheon runs from noon-1:30 p.m. at Countryside Banquet Center at 596 S. Cedar St. in Imlay City.

Lunch will be served promptly at noon, followed by an hour-long program presented by FBI Special Agent Anthony Weber, a member of the agency's Cyber Task Force in Detroit.

Weber, a field agent with more than 15 years of experience with the bureau, will discuss some of the security challenges that affect even small businesses today.

Specifically, attendees will learn "how to spot security compromises" and "how to mitigate risks following a breach."

Weber will also discuss how the FBI can interact in cases where a business has been breached.

Admission to the program is by donation of $10 for Chamber members and $15 for the public and future Chamber members.

Weber's background

Given the high level of computer hacking, Special Agent Weber has been assigned to work computer intrusion matters as a part of FBI's Cyber Task Force in the Detroit Field Office.

In addition to meeting the requirements of becoming an FBI Special Agent, Weber has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.

He has also earned certification as an FBI Digital Evidence Extraction Technician and holds several SANS Global Information Assurance Certifications to include: Security Essentials, Intrusion Analyst and Forensic Examiner.

Teresa Gormley, Executive Director of the Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce, hopes the combined Chamber program on Jan. 10 will give rise to other partnerships over the course of the new year.

"We are pleased to partner this informative luncheon program with the Almont Area Chamber of Commerce," said Gormley. "We hope to continue our partnership and to add another three luncheons over the upcoming year."
