IMLAY CITY — It's the last call for those wanting tickets to attend next Saturday's (Jan. 20) Imlay City Area Chamber of Commerce Dinner-Dance.
This year's gala event takes place at Countryside Banquet Center, starting at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour; followed by dinner at 6:45 p.m.
Tickets are $50 apiece and still available at the Imlay City Hall on Main Street north of Third Street.
The highlight of this year's event will be the Chamber's official announcement of the 2018 "Michigan Busker Fest," which replaces the former Blueberry Festival.
The 1st Annual Michigan Busker Fest has been scheduled for the weekend of June 15-16.
Others to be introduced during the dinner-dance will be Chamber Events Coordinator Shannon Hamel and newly-appointed Executive Director, Teresa Gormley.
Hamel said the evening's entertainment will feature a sampling of busker-style performers, along with a DJ for dancing.
"I'm very excited about the chamber gala," said Hamel. "It's going to be like a pre-Busker show. We'll have Striped Circus, magician Mike Davis and more.
"The food will be outstanding and beer and wine are included," Hamel continued. "It's going to be a great night out that community members will not want to miss."
Chamber Board President John Powell said the deadline to submit nominations for 2018 Citizen of the Year, Merit Award and Organization of the Year is Friday, Jan. 12.
"We want to close out the nominations this weekend so we can review and vote," said Powell. "Then we have to notify the families."
Powell added that the deadline to purchase dinner-dance tickets is next Monday, Jan. 15.
Auction on horizon
Next on the Chamber's schedule is the 2018 "Busker Festival Auction" on Saturday, March 17 at Castle Creek Golf Course.
The auction is a key component of the Chamber's fundraising efforts on behalf of the annual summer festival.
