ALMONT TWP. — The Hibner family has received such an outpouring of support since their house was destroyed by a fire in mid-August, that they're now asking that donations be directed to the fire department.
Soon after firefighters extinguished flames at the Hough Rd. residence, families from the Almont School district banded together to collect toys, clothes and other essentials for the family of five-Kristy, Jeremy, and their three kids ages 8, 6 and 4.
To make a donation, contact the fire departments at Almont (798-8111,) Berlin (395-7061), Dryden (796-3050) and Addison (248-628-5600).
According to initial reports from Almont Fire Chief Don Smith, it's believed the fire started in the kitchen and dining room area but the cause was undetermined. No one was home at the time of fire.
