CAPAC — A Capac councilmember has been arrested and lodged in the county jail on several charges related to an alleged assault that occurred on Friday night, Aug.31.
St. Clair County Prosecutor Mike Wendling confirmed that 43 year-old Gregory Vanneste, was arraigned on Sunday (Sept. 2) on two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct, felonious assault, felony firearm and kidnapping. The alleged victim is a minor under the age of 16.
He's being held on a $750,000 cash bond.
Vanneste has been a councilmember for nearly four years and is one of three incumbents up for re-election in November.
