There will be costume prizes, finisher medals, and race awards. T-shirts are included in the registration fees of both 5K runners and Gobblers and will be available to participants who register by November 4.
If any of you are having early Thanksgiving festivities, i.e. dinner at Grandma's on the Saturday before, why not consider coming to run off your dinner ahead of time? Enjoy the camaraderie that happens when runners and walkers come together—especially when they come together for a cause! I was unable to be on hand for the send-off last year, but I've heard it was very festive! And if you, like me, are not up for the run, come on out to cheer on your favorite runner, and while you're at it, bring some nonperishables for the St. Paul's Food Pantry collection which is happening at the race site that day.
P.S. There could probably be another way to be involved. No one asked me to say this, but if you know a runner who can't afford the fee, and you can afford the fee (or part of it) but can no longer run...well...I probably don't even need to say this. But maybe you can make a connection with a student or someone else you may know and cut a deal. Sounds like a plan to me.
