We have some wonderful schools in our area; and when I'm asked, I like to promote them and the life they bring to our community.
Last week, for instance, Greg Bullen, Sports Director at Lapeer AM radio station WMPC, sent me an email asking if I'd help spread the word that he and Bill Hetchler will be at Imlay City High School again on 2/17 and 2/24 to broadcast both the girls' and boys' varsity games. This week, Friday's game is also Community Night, which means no one pays. How cool is THAT? The girls tip at 6 o'clock, while the boys' game is scheduled to begin at 7:30. On the following Friday night, February 24, Imlay City hosts Armada for both varsity games; and WMPC will be announcing again. Both nights Dave Sommerville will be back at the radio station. Folks who cannot attend because they're out of our broadcast area (like maybe grandparents in Florida?) are invited to listen to live streaming at www.wmpc.org.
Another area school event to put on your calendar is the Imlay City Christian School Benefit Auction to be held at Castle Creek Golf Club and Banquet Center in Lum on Saturday evening, April 29. Items for both live and silent auctions are very welcome. Contact the school secretary (preferably mornings) at 724-5695. More details to follow.
